In Chinese culture, mountains are not just rocks; they are the pillars connecting heaven and earth, places of spiritual awakening and transition.

This couple belongs to a global generation of Chinese youth—tech-savvy, highly educated and deeply curious about the world beyond their borders. Armed with a paper guidebook and a smartphone, they represent a bridge between traditional ways of exploring and the hyper-connected digital age.

The smartphone connects them to a global network of hikers, trail maps, and instant translation, while the guidebook holds the curated wisdom of those who walked the path before them.

The painting captures the essence of the modern global citizen: deeply rooted in their cultural identity, yet effortlessly navigating and embracing the wider world.
